62 Watermark
Located in the prestigious community of Watermark at Bearspaw in Calgary, Alberta, 62 Watermark is a testament to the harmony between monumental architecture and the intimate requirements of home.
Designed by Andison Residential Design in collaboration with Lighthouse Custom Homes, this residence was conceived as more than just a structure; it is a curated environment designed to elevate the daily experience of its inhabitants.
The architectural thought behind the manor centers on the concept of human-centric scale. While the home possesses an undeniable presence, our design principles focused on breaking down the massing to ensure the home feels approachable and lived-in. We moved away from the often-stark nature of modern estates, opting instead for a silhouette that uses layered gables and recessed volumes to create a sense of discovery and warmth.
We also prioritized intentional flow and transition, focusing on the experience of movement. From the wide, inviting entry to the rhythmic transition between the public social spaces and the private family wings, the layout encourages a natural, unforced flow. The architecture guides you through the home, offering framed views of the surrounding environment at every turn. Furthermore, we designed for purposeful longevity. Every architectural decision—from the height of the vaulted ceilings to the placement of the oversized window banks—was made with the future in mind. We created spaces that are adaptable, capable of hosting grand social gatherings one evening and providing a quiet, contemplative sanctuary.
62 Watermark is not just a house to be looked at; it is a home designed to be felt. By focusing on volume, light, and the psychology of space, we have created a residence that stands as a bold architectural statement while remaining, at its core, a place of comfort and connection.
